Some MPs in Wolesi Jirga say Taliban stormed Salma band intending to take the control and destroy it.
“Taliban have attacked Salma band three days ago and currently clashes ongoing around the band,” said Gholam Faroq Majroh, Herat’s representative in Wolesi Jirga.
“The national army battalion commander based in Salma has not done anything to repel the enemy’s attacks,” he added.

According to him, a number of former Mujahidin raised to defend the band only to protect national interests with their weapons.
Mr Majroh warned if the central government does not take any action, Salma band will be destroyed by the enemies of Afghanistan.
Salma dam was put into operation in 1395 (solar year). The government of Afghanistan considered this dam as one of the major infrastructures.

This dam has a capacity of 640 million cubic meters of water storage, produces 42 megawatts of electricity and irrigates more than 200 thousand acres of land.
