Senior aide to President Ghani on public and strategic affairs welcomed EU call for a full ceasefire in Afghanistan to help vulnerable people over coronavirus.

EU special representative on Afghanistan Roland Kobia has recently called for a ceasefire to help people across Afghanistan.
“To be better helped, first measures should be: full ceasefire, stop taxing humanitarian aid, ensure full access and safety, coordinate and cooperate with government,” Kobia twitted in response to a statement released by Suhail Shaheen, a Taliban spokesman in Doha.

Waheed Omer, meanwhile, welcomed the EU call for a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds.
“Taliban should know that we are dealing with a humanitarian situation caused by the Corona virus. They need to stop their attacks and allow health workers to reach to vulnerable people in all parts of Afghanistan,” he said.

According to him, there are reports of Taliban causing problems to health services in some areas of Afghanistan.
“It should be stopped immediately,” he added.
