A key Taliban commander killed in drone strike Sunday night in Shindand district, local officials in western Herat province said.

“Mullah Baryalai known as Mansour, accused of terrorist attacks and illegal activities was killed along with a member of the group in Qudal village of Shindand district,” said the provincial governor’s spokesman Jilani Farhad.
“the security situation will get better as the Taliban’s famous commander killed in the district,” he added.

Shindand is one of the insecure regions of Herat province as Taliban group has widespread activities in the area.
