We will Stand against ARG’s Decision: Pedram

A number of MPs opposed the distribution process of electronic ID cards while some supported the process during Saturday session at the parliament.

A number of MPs opposed the distribution process of electronic ID cards while some supported the process during Saturday session at the parliament.
Abdul Latif Pedram, a MP, said distributing E-ID cards with current specifications is imposing the identity of an ethnicity on another ethnic group in the country, and it is unacceptable, insisting we will stand against the decision of the presidential palace (ARG).
“The president’s decision is a declaration of war with the people of Afghanistan,” Mr Pedram said. “We do not accept the distribution of the e-ID cards and will resist the tyranny of the puppet and illegal government, whether peacefully or violently.”

According to him, e-ID cards must be initiated in accordance with a law passed and approved by the two Houses of the parliament two years ago, not with the recent legislative decree of the President, which has no legal basis.

“Referring to the formation of NUG, ignoring the will of a person who claims the 50 percent power share in the country, is actually ignoring the will of the people. The distribution process which started in the presidential palace, should remain there,” MP Zahir Saadat said. “the decision will face the country with another crisis and if it takes place, this time even the foreigners will not be able to control it.”

But the representatives who agree with the initiated process accuse the opposition group of dividing the country.
They insist that anyone who does not want the word “Afghan” to be included in the cards, is not from Afghanistan and should be expelled from the country, especially from the parliament.

Obaidullah Barakzai, another MP, said those who disagree with the word “Afghan” in electric IDs are foreign spies and they should return to Tehran and Islamabad.

Meanwhile, some representatives accused the parliament speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi of not defending the House position against the legislative decree of the president and on the other hand, attended the process of distributing the cards.

Last Thursday President Ashraf Ghani officially launched the process of electronic IDs. But the CEO Abdullah severely opposed the process, called it illegitimate and causes a crisis in the country.
