DIDpress Agency: Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, has granted the Indian army “operational freedom” to respond to a deadly attack that occurred last week in Kashmir, according to a senior government source cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Tuesday, April 29.

A week after the deadliest attack on civilians in this disputed region, Modi held a closed-door meeting on Monday with military commanders and security officials. During the meeting, he informed the armed forces that they have “complete operational freedom to decide the manner, targets, and timing of the response to this terrorist attack.”
The Indian government released video footage showing a serious-looking Modi meeting with army commanders and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
Indian police have released wanted posters for three men accused of carrying out the attack in Kashmir—two Pakistanis and one Indian. A reward of two million rupees (equivalent to $23,500) has been offered for information leading to the arrest of each individual.
New Delhi has also conducted widespread arrests to locate individuals suspected of having connections to the alleged perpetrators of the attack.
Iran has previously offered to mediate, while Saudi Arabia announced that Riyadh is working to prevent “escalation of tensions.”
The U.S. President, on Friday, downplayed the tensions, stating that the disputes “will somehow be resolved.”
