DIDPress: Jamal Wali, a former Afghan interpreter who worked alongside U.S. forces, was killed at a police checkpoint in Virginia.
Footage from police body cameras shows that before the confrontation, he shouted, “I should have stayed with the Taliban.”
During the dispute, the Afghan refugee repeatedly told U.S. police that Americans had lied to him. Speaking with anger, he expressed his frustration over his inability to find work and receive war disability benefits, directly blaming the U.S. for his suffering.
The United States has repeatedly made false promises in its support of military collaborators, which has caused significant psychological pressure and insecurity among many Afghan refugees living in the U.S.
Meanwhile, under Donald Trump’s administration, strict refugee admission policies have suspended the review of numerous asylum cases from Afghanistan. There is growing concern that many of these individuals, some of whom even hold green cards, face the risk of deportation from the US.
