Interim Government’s First Official Participation in Russia’s International Security Meeting
DIDPress: For the first time, Afghan interim government has sent representatives to the International High-Level Security Meeting in Russia.

The event is being held from May 27 to 29 at the Russian National Center, hosted by the country’s Security Council.
The Press Office of Russia’s Security Council announced that the meeting is taking place with the participation of a delegation from the de facto Kabul government. The focus of the meeting will be on examining transnational security threats and the expanding role of regional organizations in addressing these challenges.
On the sidelines of the conference, informal meetings will be held among representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the BRICS group, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Additionally, the fifth meeting of ASEAN heads of delegations will be held within the framework of this event.
Russia’s Security Council emphasized that regional actors are reluctant to play a role in confrontations between global powers and instead seek a just security order based on multilateral cooperation.
The presence of Afghanistan’s interim government representatives at the meeting is seen as an effort by the group to enter formal engagement in international security affairs and to strengthen its relations with key regional players, including Russia.
