Kabul Upgrades Diplomatic Mission in Islamabad to Ambassadorial Level
DIDPress: Afghanistan’s interim government announced that it will elevate the status of its chargé d’affaires in Islamabad to the level of ambassador, following Pakistan’s reciprocal decision to enhance its diplomatic representation in Kabul.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the caretaker government welcomed Pakistan’s decision in an official statement, calling it “a positive step” toward strengthening bilateral ties between the two neighboring countries.
“The elevation of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan will pave the way for expanded cooperation in many areas,” reads the ministry’s statement.
The announcement came after Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy PM and Foreign Minister, declared on Friday that Islamabad had decided to upgrade its chargé d’affaires in Kabul to the level of ambassador.
Dar described the decision as a result of a “very fruitful visit” by a high-level Pakistani delegation he led to Kabul on April 19.
“To maintain this [positive] momentum, I am pleased to announce the decision of the Government of Pakistan to upgrade the level of its Chargé d’Affaires in Kabul to the level of Ambassador,” Dar said. “I am confident this step would further contribute towards enhanced engagement, deepen Pak-Afghan cooperation in economic, security, CT & trade areas and promote further exchanges between two fraternal countries.”
