5 Million Afghan Migrants Return Home Since Fall of Republic
DIDPress: Afghanistan’s acting Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced that more than five million Afghan migrants have returned to the country from neighboring countries since the Taliban’s return to power.

According to the ministry, the return of Afghanistan nationals from neighboring countries—particularly Iran, Pakistan, and several other regional states—has increased significantly. Millions of Afghans who had been living abroad for the past two decades have now returned to their homeland.
The ministry has presented these figures as an indicator of the caretaker government’s success in improving security, promoting stability, and creating conditions for life inside the country.
Officials say returnees have been resettled across various provinces, and programs are underway to support their reintegration into Afghan society.
In recent years, especially following the political changes of 2021, Afghanistan has witnessed one of the largest waves of migration in the region. Now, the figures provided by the interim authorities point to a large-scale reverse migration, with a significant portion of the Afghan diaspora returning home.
