DIDPress: Pakistan’s Army Chief is set to visit Washington for high-level meetings with U.S. officials to discuss key security, political, and economic issues.

Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, announced that General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, will travel to Washington in the near future.
According to Khalilzad, the agenda will include topics such as counterterrorism efforts, de-escalation of tensions between Pakistan and India, and Pakistan’s potential role in easing U.S.-China tensions.
General Munir aims to attract American investors to Pakistan’s mineral sector, underlined Khalilzad.
He further emphasized that if Pakistan’s army chief is genuinely seeking to improve relations with the US, he should also work toward securing the release of Dr. Shakil Afridi.
