400 Afghan Prisoners Transferred from Iran to Afghanistan

DIDPress: Officials from Afghanistan’s Prison Administration announced that hundreds of Afghan nationals imprisoned in Iran have been transferred back to Afghanistan over the past year.

Mohammad Nasim Lalahand, spokesperson for the Prison Administration, said that more than 400 Afghan prisoners who were serving sentences in Iran have been repatriated to Afghanistan in two phases during the last 12 months.

According to the official, the process were conducted under bilateral agreements between Afghanistan and Iran, with the aim of facilitating judicial processes and ensuring better conditions for the inmates.

“All returning prisoners have been provided with necessary services, including access to healthcare, counseling, and the right to meet with family members. Efforts are being made to support their reintegration into society,” he added.
