Kosovo Temporarily Accepts Migrants Deported from US

DIDPress: As part of international cooperation efforts for migrant resettlement, Kosovo is prepared to temporarily accept a number of migrants deported from the United States, announced the interim government of Kosovo.

Kosovo’s interim government has approved a plan allowing the country to temporarily accommodate up to 50 Afghan migrants who have been deported from the U.S.

This measure aims to assist in the transfer process of these individuals to third countries.

Albin Kurti, Kosovo’s interim Prime Minister, said that the Ministry of Interior will be responsible for managing and coordinating the plan.

According to Kurti, the list of migrants in question will be proposed by American authorities, but their acceptance by the Kosovo government will be conditional on the fulfillment of specific criteria, including respect for public order and the rule of law.

“We believe in global responsibility, and this action is part of our contribution to addressing international migration crises,” he added.
