Air India Plane with 242 Passengers Crashes in Ahmedabad

DIDPress: An Air India plane carrying 242 passengers crashed while taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

Images released from the incident on Thursday, June 12, 2025, show extensive damage and thick black smoke rising from the site.

Seven fire trucks were present at the scene.

According to Jaish Khadia, a fire officer, the plane caught fire after the crash, and fire engines were immediately dispatched to control the blaze.

GS Malak, the Ahmedabad police commissioner, said, “The plane crashed in the Makaninagar area near the airport. It is still unclear what type of plane it was.”

Air India confirmed the incident in a statement on X social media platform: “Flight AI171, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick Airport, experienced an accident today, June 12, 2025. We are currently investigating the details and will soon provide further information on airindia.com and through our official X account.”
