UNAMA: One-Third of Afghanistan’s Population Lacks Access to Safe Drinking Water
DIDPress: The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says nearly one-third of Afghanistan’s population lacks access to safe drinking water.

In an official statement, UNAMA warned that more than 10 million people across the country are forced to use unsafe and unhygienic water sources – a serious threat to public health.
According to the UN body, the water crisis, particularly in rural and deprived areas, has placed additional burdens on women and children.
While acknowledging some progress, UNAMA emphasized the urgent need to rebuild damaged water infrastructure.
The mission also reiterated its commitment to rehabilitating water facilities damaged by war, drought, and erosion, while urging the international community to play a more active role in addressing the critical crisis in Afghanistan.
