Kabul: Regional Tensions Not Affected Afghan Markets

DIDPress: Amid escalating regional tensions between Iran and the Israeli regime, Afghanistan’s acting Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that these developments have had no impact on the country’s markets.

Abdulsalam Jawad, spokesperson for the caretaker government’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said on Monday, June 23, that recent clashes between Iran and Israel have not affected trade, imports, or the prices of essential goods in Afghanistan.

“Imports, transit, and goods supply in Afghan markets continue normally, with no disruptions to the country’s commercial operations,” he emphasized, briefing to the media.

The ministry spokesperson also dismissed reports of food shortages in markets, describing such claims as “personal opinions” from certain individuals. He stressed that prices of essential commodities remain unchanged and are still regulated according to benchmarks set by relevant authorities.

Jawad further noted that the government maintains close oversight of market conditions and distribution networks, adding: “Necessary measures will be taken immediately if any issues arise.”
