DIDPress: A report by Brown University reveals that between 2001 and 2021, the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan resulted in more than 240,000 deaths.

According to the findings of Brown University’s Costs of War Project, the war in Afghanistan, which began with the U.S. invasion in 2001, has led to the deaths of at least 243,000 people.

Among the victims were 78,526 U.S. troops and private contractors, 85,731 members of the Afghan security forces and national police, and 70,418 civilians.

The report warns that the figures only account for direct war-related deaths and do not include indirect fatalities caused by poverty, disease, or the collapse of healthcare infrastructure.
