Interim Government: Afghanistan Pursues a Neutral Policy in the Region

DIDPress: The deputy spokesperson for the Taliban interim government emphasized that Afghanistan poses no threat to any country and is pursuing a neutral policy in its regional relations.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the interim government, in response to recent remarks by the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, stated that Afghanistan is committed to maintaining a neutral stance in the region and that no threatening activities are being carried out from Afghan soil against neighboring countries.

These remarks come after General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, alleged that India-backed groups are operating from Afghan territory against Pakistan, posing a threat to regional peace and stability.

Fitrat further stated that Afghanistan seeks positive relations with all regional countries, including India and Pakistan, and believes in maintaining neutrality among nations. He added that the interim government does not allow any country to use Afghan territory for hostile activities against others.

Relations between Kabul and Islamabad have become strained in recent months due to border and security issues. Pakistan has repeatedly claimed that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) carries out operations from Afghan soil—an allegation that Afghanistan has consistently denied, reaffirming its commitment to regional stability.

While Afghanistan’s security and political situation remains fragile, maintaining a policy of neutrality and striving to improve relations with neighboring countries can play a key role in reducing tensions and enhancing regional security.
