Muttaqi: Afghan Returnees Need Urgent Assistance

DIDPress: Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, in a meeting with a senior official of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), urged greater attention to the dire situation of returnees from Iran and Pakistan.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, met with Alexander Matheou, Head of the IFRC’s Asia-Pacific region, and demanded increased international assistance to Afghan returnees.

Muttaqi emphasized the urgent steps to address the basic needs of those forcibly repatriated from Iran and Pakistan, including shelter, clean water, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities.

While acknowledging the Red Cross’s efforts in past years, he urged deeper collaboration to support vulnerable communities.
