OCHA Unable to Provide Aid to Flood Victims in Afghanistan

DIDPress: UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) vowed it cannot fully respond to the urgent needs of flood victims in Afghanistan due to funding shortages.

In a report, OCHA noted that multiple Afghan provinces have experienced flash floods in recent days, resulting in fatalities and severe damage to homes and agricultural land.

Preliminary figures released by the Taliban caretaker government indicate that at least five people have died, with several others injured during the floods.

While it is assessing needs and providing emergency assistance, the process faces significant challenges due to insufficient financial resources, OCHA added.

The UN agency urged the international community to increase support and provide necessary funding for relief efforts.
