According to directives released by the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, media organizations must now submit the topics, guests, and viewpoints of analysts for government approval before airing any political programming.

The regulations impose sweeping controls over political content across all media platforms, including television, radio, and digital outlets.

The caretaker government has justified these measures as part of efforts to promote “responsible journalism” aligned with Sharia law and national interests. However, the rules have effectively imposed severe restrictions on press freedom and journalistic work in Afghanistan, significantly tightening the country’s media landscape.
