Telecommunication Services Expanded at Border Crossing for Returnees from Iran

DIDPress: Telecommunications Directorate of western Herat Province announced practical measures to improve telecommunication services at the Islam Qala border crossing, addressing the growing needs of returnees from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the directorate, the distribution of SIM cards for returnees is being accelerated, and telecommunication infrastructure is being expanded to ensure these individuals can contact their families and relevant institutions immediately upon arrival.

Local officials said that given the congestion at the Islam Qala border crossing and the rising number of incoming returnees, enhancing network coverage and providing urgent communication services are part of the humanitarian response to facilitate their reintegration.

The Herat Telecommunications Directorate also collaborate with private entities and telecom companies to strengthen signal coverage, install new equipment, and increase SIM card distribution centers.
