Return of Migrants: Economic Challenge or Opportunity?
A recent poll conducted by DID Press News Agency highlights public concerns about pressure on the labor market and public services.

Following the increasing trend of migrant returns, DID Press News Agency has published the results of an online poll examining public opinion on the economic impacts of this phenomenon. The findings reveal that fears about strain on job market and public service infrastructure dominate respondents’ views.
Key Survey Findings:
45% of participants believe increased labor market competition and reduced job opportunities are the most significant economic consequences of returning migrants—a concern particularly acute among youth and domestic workers.
44% cite added pressure on public resources and services (education, healthcare, urban transportation) as a major outcome, doubting the government’s capacity to address these challenges.
Only 11% view migrant returns positively, suggesting returnees could bring new skills, experience, and expertise to the labor market.
Notably, zero respondents selected “local market growth and capital circulation” as a potential benefit, reflecting widespread skepticism about the regional economic impact of returns.
Expert Warnings:
Economists argue these public perceptions should serve as a wake-up call for policymakers. Proactive labor market policies, expanded vocational training, and support for local investments are critical to harnessing the potential of returning migrants.
While migrant returns could theoretically fuel economic recovery, the lack of comprehensive planning risks transforming this trend into a complex socioeconomic crisis.
