Afghanistan; Central Focus of Putin’s Regional Summits
DIDPress: Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in three major regional summits on October 13-14 2025, with Afghanistan’s situation and its impact on regional security serving as their common focal point.

These summits include:
1. The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA);
2. The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Heads of State Council;
3. The Russia-Central Asia Summit.
According to an official Kremlin statement, Afghanistan’s role in regional stability will be a key topic of discussion, with participating countries working to develop coordinated approaches for engaging with Afghanistan’s evolving situation.
Experts suggest that Russia aims to establish a regional security cooperation framework involving Central Asian states and Afghanistan’s neighbors. This initiative seeks to address potential threats such as extremism, uncontrolled migration, and drug trafficking emanating from Afghanistan.
