Herat Governor Officially Visits Iran; Launch of New Cooperation at Islam Qala Border
DIDPress: Leading an official delegation, Mawlawi Noor Ahmad Islamjar, governor of western Herat province appointed by the Taliban’s caretaker government, entered Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday morning, July 19, through the Islam Qala border crossing.

He will meet with the governor of Khorasan Razavi Province and participate in the sixth session of the joint bilateral economic committee between the two countries.
Upon arrival, Governor Islamjar visited Dogharoon Special Economic Zone and then proceeded to the Afghanistan migrant settlement camp in Safid Sang, Fariman.
As part of his three-day trip to Mashhad, Islamjar will hold talks with Yaqub Ali Nazari, the governor of Razavi Khorasan, and take part in several cooperation meetings.
The itinerary also includes visits to a hospital, a science and technology park, the Quran Museum, the library of Astan Quds Razavi, and the Afghanistan Consulate in Mashhad.
During the visit, several cooperation agreements are expected to be signed, and the delegation will also tour a number of industrial and manufacturing facilities in Razavi Khorasan Province.
Taybad County, located 225 kilometers southeast of Mashhad and just 90 kilometers from the Afghanistan border, is considered a key hub for economic exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan, particularly due to the presence of the Dogharoon border crossing.
The historic Islam Qala–Dogharoon border, with a history spanning over a century, lies 18 kilometers southeast of Taybad and 248 kilometers from Mashhad. It serves as one of the main transit corridors between the two neighboring countries.
