Pakistan: US Remains Our Largest Trading Partner

DIDPress: During a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed that the United States continues to be Pakistan’s largest trading partner.

In discussions between Pakistan’s Finance Minister and the U.S. Commerce Secretary, both sides emphasized the importance of bilateral economic ties. According to a statement from Pakistan’s Finance Ministry, the two nations agreed to expand cooperation in technology, mining, and agriculture while pursuing trade diversification and increased investment.

During the meeting, the Pakistani Finance Minister called for a reduction of the 29% tariff on Pakistan’s exports to the United States, saying that Pakistan is ready to increase imports of American goods, including crude oil, and to offer incentives in the mining sector.

Additionally, in this regard, the Export-Import Bank of the United States is considering investing between $500 million and $1 billion in Pakistan’s mining projects.

These developments indicate the efforts of both countries to strengthen trade and economic relations and could lead to increased bilateral cooperation in the future.
