Nationwide Protest in UK Against Ban on “Action for Palestine”

DIDPress: Following the controversial decision by the British government to ban the activities of the group “Action for Palestine” and to designate it as a terrorist organization, nationwide protests were held in various cities across the country.

According to news sources, these demonstrations took place in cities such as London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, and Truro in Cornwall, and were met with a heavy police response. In London alone, the Metropolitan Police arrested 55 individuals on charges of carrying placards in support of the group.

Notably, many of those arrested were elderly individuals, some over the age of 60, who were holding placards that read, “I oppose genocide. I support Action for Palestine.”

Last month, the UK Parliament designated the group “Action for Palestine” as a terrorist organization. Under the new laws, any form of membership or even expressing support for the group could result in up to 14 years of imprisonment.

The decision has sparked strong reactions from human rights activists, freedom of speech advocates, and pro-Palestinian groups, with many viewing it as an attempt to silence dissent against the policies of the Zionist regime.
