Ayatollah Sistani’s Call to Save Gaza: No Conscientious Human Being Should Remain Silent
DIDPress: The office of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sistani issued a statement expressing deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, urging immediate action by Islamic countries and the international community to end this crisis.

The text of the statement is as follows:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
After nearly two years of relentless killing and destruction, resulting in hundreds of thousands of martyrs and wounded, and the complete destruction of cities and residential complexes, these days the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are facing very difficult and overwhelming conditions; especially due to the severe food shortage, which has led to widespread famine, from which even children, the sick, and the elderly have not been able to escape.
Although the occupying forces are not expected to commit such heinous atrocities in the context of their ongoing efforts to displace the Palestinians from their land, it is expected the countries of the world, especially the Arab and Islamic countries, will not allow this humanitarian catastrophe to continue. Rather, they must redouble their efforts to end it and use their maximum power to force the occupying regime and its supporters to open the way for aid and the delivery of food and other essential necessities of life to defenseless civilians as soon as possible.
The shocking scenes of widespread hunger in the Gaza Strip, which are being broadcast by the media, should not allow any person of conscience to speak of food or drink in peace; As the Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) said in describing the oppression of a woman in Islamic lands:
“If a Muslim dies of grief after this incident, he is not blameworthy, but in my eyes he deserves it.”
And there is no power or strength except in Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
