Poll: Taliban-Germany Agreement; Step for Benefit of Nation or Legitimizing Taliban?
DID Press has recently conducted a new poll, asking the audience on recent agreement between the Taliban government and the German government. According to the poll, the main question was: Is the Taliban-Germany agreement on the exchange of diplomats and the deportation of refugees in the interest of the Afghanistan people?

Poll results:
- Yes, a step towards improving foreign relations and national interests: 37%
- No, this agreement is more in the interest of the Taliban than the people: 27%
- ️The deportation of refugees is worrying and against human rights: 18%
- I do not have enough information to assess: 18%
Analysis of views
More than a third of the participants (37%) have positively assessed the agreement and consider it a step towards improving Afghanistan’s foreign relations. They believe that the establishment of consular offices in Germany can help provide services to Afghanistan citizens.
In contrast, 27 percent of respondents viewed the agreement as a tool to strengthen the Taliban’s political position and did not consider it to be in the public interest.
Another 18 percent has a critical view regarding the deportation of refugees, saying it is contrary to human rights principles. They were concerned about the consequences of forced return of individuals to Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
Meanwhile, 18 percent of participants said they did not have enough information to make a judgment on the issue.
Conclusion
The results of this poll show that views on recent Taliban-German agreement are extremely diverse and sometimes contradictory. While some people see it as a way to expand foreign relations, others see it as a step towards legitimizing the Taliban government.
Human rights concerns about the return of Afghanistan refugees also form a key of the reactions. This indicates that political agreements without transparency and observing humanitarian principles continue to be viewed critically by the society.
