Mullah Baradar: Self-sufficiency Energy is our strategic goal
DID Press: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban interim government, announced at the inauguration ceremony of a solar power project in Logar province that the interim government has a serious determination to achieve energy self-sufficiency.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban interim government issued a press release announcing the start of a 40-megawatt solar power generation project in Mohammad Agha district of Logar province. According to Mullah Baradar, despite the country’s vast natural resources, Afghanistan spends millions of dollars annually on importing electricity from neighboring countries, and this is unacceptable.
He added that the Taliban interim government is trying to reduce its dependence on imported electricity by launching solar, hydro, and wind energy projects, and practical steps have been taken in this direction in the past four years.
This is while Afghanistan is still one of the countries that depends on electricity imports from Iran, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, and cities like Kabul are facing a crisis of shortages and power outages.
The 40-megawatt Logar power project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months and will provide electricity for 40,000 families
