Poll: Recognizing Palestine; Strengthening International Position and Increasing Pressure on Israel

DID Press: According to a new poll conducted by DID Press, most respondents believe that the recognition of an independent Palestinian state by the international community will have consequences beyond symbolic effects. The poll, which was conducted with the participation of users in cyberspace, examined the possible consequences of this political action in the international arena.

56 percent of participants said that this action could lead to strengthening Palestine’s position in international institutions such as the UN and international courts. This group believes that the recognition of the Palestinian state will provide the country with more legal and diplomatic tools.

Another 44 percent believe that recognizing Palestine could lead to increased global pressure on Israel to end the occupation and aggression of the Zionist regime. These people emphasize that widespread international support for Palestinian independence will further isolate Israel on the global stage.

A notable point in this poll was that the participants did not choose the options “symbolic effect without practical results” and “escalating diplomatic tensions in the region.” This indicates that the public opinion of the participants in this poll considers the recognition process to be an effective and positive step towards resolving the Palestinian crisis.

The poll was conducted at a time when a new wave of Latin American, African and some European countries has recently begun to recognize Palestine as an independent state, and this issue has once again returned to the forefront of global diplomatic discussions.
Many observers consider this process to be a key factor in changing the diplomatic and legal balance in favor of the Palestinian people
