In response to Trump’s request for free passage of American ships through the Suez Canal, Egyptian officials gave a firm reply.

Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, issued an official statement emphasizing that Egypt does not grant any privileges to American or non-American ships regarding passage through the Suez Canal.

Rabie also referenced Egypt’s adherence to the historic 1888 agreement, which prohibits discrimination between ships and transit tariffs.

The agreement clearly states that all ships, regardless of nationality, must pass through the Suez Canal equally and without any discrimination.
