Joint Iran-Afghanistan Exhibition: Major Step Toward Multi-Billion Dollar Investments

DID Press: The first joint exhibition between Iran and Afghanistan, aimed at expanding economic cooperation and attracting multi-billion dollar investments, is scheduled to be held in Birjand city in early October.

The head of Afghanistan’s International Exhibition Organization, Mohammad Sadeq Latifi, described the event as a turning point in the economic relations between the two countries, saying it can pave the way for large-scale financial collaborations and the development of commercial ties.

Speaking at a coordination meeting held in the South Khorasan Governor’s conference hall, Latifi referred to the shared cultural and economic history of Iran and Afghanistan.
“The relationship between the two countries is rooted in trust and longstanding cooperation. Now is the time to translate this bond into tangible outcomes through economic projects and joint investments” he said.

“The joint exhibition is a suitable opportunity to showcase the economic potential of both countries and to initiate broad trade activities among economic players,” he added.

Latifi also highlighted the successful experience of Afghanistan’s regional exhibitions, noting that: “Last year, joint exhibitions with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan led to contracts worth over $2 billion. We hope to achieve similar outcomes in the joint exhibition with Iran.”

The head of Afghanistan’s International Exhibition Organization identified South Khorasan Province as one of the main gateways for economic interaction with Afghanistan.
He said that the region, due to its geographical proximity and cultural commonalities, could serve as a strong base for Iranian companies to invest in various sectors, especially mining and agriculture.

He also declared the Taliban caretaker government’s support for holding the exhibition and expressed hope that this event will mark the beginning of a new chapter in economic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The exhibition is scheduled to take place in Birjand early October 2025, with a focus on the agriculture and mining sectors. It is expected to be a significant step toward enhancing regional trade and economic exchanges and strengthening bilateral relations.
