US Weapons Purchases Funded by Europeans; New Military Package on Way to Ukraine
DID Press: Three European countries allocated more than $500 million to purchase U.S. weapons for delivery to Ukraine.

Sweden, Norway, and Denmark announced that, as part of a joint package, they will spend a total of $511 million to buy weapons from the United States for shipment to Ukraine.
According to reports, the package includes surface-to-air missiles for the MIM-104 Patriot air defense system, anti-tank munitions, air defense equipment, and spare parts. The agreement has been signed under a new policy between Washington and its European allies, under which U.S. arms manufacturers supply equipment directly to Ukraine in exchange for cash payments.
Sweden’s share of the package is reported to be $275 million, Norway’s $146 million, and Denmark’s $90 million.
Analysts believe this trend—combined with rising energy costs due to the loss of cheap Russian gas—has placed additional pressure on European economies and contributed to a decline in social welfare in these countries.
Some European experts have criticized the full alignment of European leaders with Washington’s policies in the Ukraine war.
