IOM, Caretaker Government Cooperating to Support Migrants

DID Press: The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with other international entities, is working to identify the skills of refugees and facilitate greater employment opportunities to support them.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), alongside other international organizations, is striving to assess refugees’ skill sets and create employment and support mechanisms for them.

Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the caretaker government, wrote on X that Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Administrative Deputy Prime Minister, met with Mohammad Abdiker, Chief of Mission for IOM in Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Abdiker said that the organization is fully prepared to cooperate with the caretaker government and provide all possible assistance to returning migrants.

He also highlighted the organization’s efforts to support the rights of refugees in host countries, emphasizing that IOM, together with other international agencies, is actively assessing refugees’ skills and creating employment opportunities to support them.

Hanafi expressed gratitude for IOM’s humanitarian assistance and stressed that, despite the increasing trend of Afghanistan migrants being deported from neighboring countries, the situation remains fully under control, Fitrat added.

Hanafi also pointed to the growing need for human resources, tents, vehicles, shelters, and other essential supplies from the relevant organizations.

He further urged the host countries and international organizations to pay serious attention in safeguarding the rights of refugees
