Pakistan’s Field Marshal Meets Senior US Military and Political Officials
DID Press: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Sayed Asim Munir, during an official visit to the United States, held talks with senior American military and political leaders.

Pakistan’s Army media wing announced on Sunday, August 10, that “Field Marshal Sayed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is on an official visit to the United States.”
These meetings come as Pakistan seeks broader cooperation with the US under Donald Trump administration. After years of strained relations—largely due to disagreements over counterterrorism—the two countries now appear willing to rebuild their military and economic ties under the new U.S. administration.
During this trip, Munir is engaging in high-level interactions with senior political and military leaders, as well as members of the Pakistani community in the United States.
The Pakistani army chief attended a ceremony in Tampa marking the retirement of General Michael E. Kurilla, former commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), as well as the change-of-command ceremony for his successor, Brad Cooper.
He conveyed his best wishes to Admiral Cooper and expressed hope that cooperation in addressing shared security challenges would continue.
The army chief also met with General Dan Keane, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, during which issues of mutual interest were discussed.
According to the Pakistan Army’s public relations office: “On the sidelines of this trip, the Chief of Army Staff also met with the defense chiefs of friendly countries,” though the names of these countries were not specified.
Munir’s visit to the U.S. reflects the growing closeness between Pakistan and the United States. This is the army chief’s second visit to the U.S. since last June, when President Trump hosted him at an unprecedented luncheon at the White House
