Iran, Afghanistan Eye Expanding Cooperation through Cultural and Academic Ties

DID Press: Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Afghanistan, Dr. Sayed Rouhollah Hussaini, has highlighted shared cultural heritage as a key driver for expanding cooperation between Tehran and Kabul.

During a visit to Sar-e Pul Province, Dr. Hussaini met with Mawlawi Mohammad Zarif Mozaffar, the province’s acting governor, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in scientific, cultural, social, and academic sectors.

He outlined several initiatives underway or planned, including scholarships for Afghanistani students at Iranian universities, the launch of a digital library, exchange visits by academic and cultural delegations, and training workshops to enhance the skills of professors and teachers.

Dr. Hussaini also pointed to deep-rooted historical and cultural connections — such as the shrine of Imamzadeh Yahya ibn Zayd (PBUH) — as a foundation for strengthening bilateral relations
