Afghanistan, Pakistan Slash Tariffs to Boost Bilateral Trade

DID Press: Afghanistan and Pakistan have implemented a preferential trade agreement that slashes export tariffs on key Afghanistani products by nearly half, said officials on Tuesday.

Under the deal, tariffs on tomatoes, grapes, apples, and pomegranates have been cut from 60% to 27%. Islamabad has also lowered duties on Pakistani goods entering Afghanistan.

The agreement, signed on July 23, is seen as a major step toward easing trade barriers and strengthening economic ties between the neighbors.
