Poll Finds Economy as Top Public Concern in Afghanistan, Constitution follows closely
DID Press: A recent national poll assessing Afghanistan’s most pressing priorities shows that improving the economic situation and citizens’ livelihoods is the foremost concern, garnering 56% of respondents’ support. The results highlight that livelihood concerns and economic pressures – unemployment, inflation, and declining purchasing power – remain the dominant issues influencing public sentiment.

Drafting and approving a constitution emerged as the second most important priority, with 44% of participants emphasizing the need for a stable legal and political framework alongside economic reforms.
Notably, initiatives related to strengthening security, countering threats, and expanding foreign relations received no votes, suggesting that participants currently view these areas as lower priorities compared to economic and structural matters.
The poll underscores the significant weight that livelihood concerns carry in shaping public opinion, while constitutional and political stability, though important, remain secondary considerations.
