India, China in Talks to Restore Border Trade after 5-Year Freeze

According to people familiar with the matter, Modi’s latest move is to resume direct flights with China starting next month. The agreement could be formally announced when Modi visits China for the first time in seven years to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to visit India next Monday. According to reports, citing sources, Wang will hold talks with India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on border issues between the two countries. At the same time, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar plans to travel to Russia next week.
