Poll: Economic Recession Seen as Most Significant Consequence of Four Years of Taliban Rule
DID Press in an online poll asked participants to identify the most significant outcome of the Taliban’s four-year interim rule over Afghanistan.

A majority—57%—cited economic recession and rising unemployment as the most pressing consequence of Taliban governance.
Meanwhile, 36% of respondents highlighted the erosion of individual and civil liberties as the primary outcome of the group’s rule.
Only 7% believed that the Taliban’s careaker government has improved security and reduced conflict, while none of the participants considered Afghanistan’s international isolation to be the most significant effect.
Overall, the poll results suggest that most people of Afghanistan view the country’s economic and livelihood challenges as the greatest impact of Taliban rule, with restrictions on civil freedoms emerging as the second most pressing concern.
