Iran Plays Key Role in Afghanistan’s Import Economy

DID Press: According to a recent report by Afghanistan’s caretaker government, Iran, alongside China and Pakistan, is among the leading exporters of goods to Afghanistan.

The National Statistics and Information Authority of Afghanistan stated that in July 2025, the country’s largest export markets were Pakistan, India, and Tajikistan, with total exports reaching 104 million USD.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s imports soared to 1.191 billion USD during the same period, primarily coming from Iran, China, and Pakistan.

These numbers underscore Afghanistan’s strong economic reliance on imports, particularly from Iran.
