Hebatullah Orders Construction of “Special Military Base” in Kandahar

DID Press: Taliban’s caretaker government is constructing a special military base in the mountainous areas of Kandahar’s 11th district under the direct order of Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s leader, reported provincial sources.

According to these sources, the base has been designed for strategic and security purposes and will include residential quarters for elite commanders as well as specialized military equipment.

The sources further confirmed that, alongside the base’s construction, underground tunnels are also being excavated in the areas—operations that are carried out mostly away from the public eye and even from some of the Taliban’s own local forces.

Reports suggest that Mullah Hebatullah has recently undertaken new steps to strengthen his power base, and establishing this military facility is also considered part of that strategy.

The Taliban’s caretaker government has not yet commented on these reports. However, political analysts believe the Taliban leader is taking these steps to manage internal divisions and consolidate his personal position within the power structure.
