Urgent Call to Relocate Afghanistani Refugees from Pakistan to Germany

DID Press: Amid growing concerns over the situation of Afghanistani refugees in Pakistan, several human rights organizations have formally requested German government to facilitate the immediate relocation of more than 2,000 Afghanistani refugees to Germany.

In a letter addressed to Germany’s Foreign and Interior Ministers, the organizations urged the government to ensure a safe and immediate transfer of over 2,000 Afghanistani refugees currently in Pakistan.

The letter emphasized that Germany should strengthen its cooperation with the Pakistani government and civil society organizations to guarantee the relocation process is carried out efficiently and securely.

The appeal comes after Germany’s Interior Minister previously said that immediate relocation of Afghanistani refugees was not feasible due to security challenges—a stance that drew criticism from human rights groups.

The organizations warned that any delay in action could endanger the lives of hundreds of refugees who face the risk of detention or deportation from Pakistan.
