Kabul: Not Seeking Water Tensions with Iran

DID Press: Abdul Latif Mansour, Afghanistan’s Minister of Water and Energy under the Taliban administration, said they do not intend to create water-related tensions with Iran. He noted that Iran receives its agreed share of water and that countries facing drought cannot be expected to provide more.

Stressing the importance of neighborly relations, Mansour said Kabul wants to clarify misunderstandings and maintain ties with Islamic countries, particularly neighbors.

“A recent visit by the Iranian delegation witnessed drought conditions, dry lands, and population migration,” he added.
