Acting Defense Minister Mujahid Urges De-escalation with Pakistan

DID Press: Acting Defense Minister Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid underlined that continued tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan are detrimental to both countries, urging constructive solutions to de-escalate the situation and restore normal neighborly relations.

Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Acting Defense Minister, said relations between Kabul and Islamabad are no longer normal and called for “rational and joint approaches” to improve ties.

“Afghanistan does not seek hostile relations with Pakistan. The continuation of this situation harms both nations. As neighbors, we must engage based on mutual respect and shared interests,” Mujahid said.

He emphasized that the current situation requires dialogue, understanding, and avoidance of misunderstandings, while rejecting any form of extremism or overreaction in political and security decisions.

The minister added that the interim administration seeks reconciliation and de-escalation, warning of serious consequences if tensions persist—particularly in border areas.
