Pakistan Seismological Center Warns of Continued Aftershocks in Eastern Afghanistan

DID Press: Pakistan’s Seismological Center reported that following the deadly 6.3-magnitude earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, nine aftershocks have been recorded in the region so far, with the possibility of continued tremors over the next two days.

The earthquake struck Sunday night at a depth of 8 kilometers, primarily affecting Kunar and Nangarhar provinces, causing extensive human and material losses.

According to the Seismological Center, the nine aftershocks were detected by a network of monitoring stations.

“There is a possibility of further aftershocks over the next two days, and people should remain vigilant and prepared,” said Najeeb Ahmad Amir, head of the center.

So far, the earthquake and its aftershocks have claimed the lives of over 812 people, with more than 3,000 injured.

Relief teams are actively assisting victims and those affected in the hardest-hit areas.
