India Seeking UN Approval for Muttaqi’s Visit to New Delhi
DID Press: Indian media reported that the government of PM Narendra Modi is seeking authorization from the UNSC to allow Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister of the Taliban caretaker government, to travel to New Delhi.

According to reports, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has formally submitted a request to the UNSC Sanctions Committee, asking for a temporary waiver of travel restrictions on Muttaqi to enable his participation in meetings in the Indian capital.
This marks the first time India has officially pursued arrangements for the visit of a senior Taliban official. Until now, contacts between the two sides had taken place at lower levels, informally, or through intermediaries.
In response, Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban’s representative in Qatar, confirmed both sides’ interest in expanding relations, saying the Taliban is ready for high-level talks with Indian officials.
According to Shaheen, the planned discussions would focus on strengthening political ties and exploring opportunities for economic and security cooperation between Kabul and New Delhi.
