Afghanistan to Import 600,000 Tons of Food from Kazakhstan

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, under the Taliban administration, said Afghanistan companies have signed agreements with Kazakhstan’s National Food Company to purchase 600,000 tons of basic food supplies, including flour, wheat and oilseeds such as flax and soybeans.

The contracts were signed during a trade forum in Kabul aimed at expanding economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries. The value of the agreements is estimated at more than $133 million.

Nooruddin Azizi, acting minister of industry and commerce, underlined the goal of raising bilateral trade with Kazakhstan to $3 billion and highlighted the key role of the private sector in driving Afghanistan’s economy.

Officials said the imports will not only help meet domestic demand in Afghanistan but also pave the way for stronger economic ties and increased trade between the two countries.
