Pakistan: Foreign Policy Decisions Solely Under Federal Government Authority
DID Press: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that all diplomatic decisions fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal government, warning that independent foreign actions by provincial governments violate the country’s constitution.

The statement came after remarks by Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regarding a potential visit to Kabul.
Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Saturday that Pakistan’s foreign policy is determined solely by the federal government, and any provincial actions in this domain must be fully coordinated with the central authorities.
He emphasized that, according to Pakistan’s governmental structure, foreign relations are an exclusive power of the federal government, and provinces cannot engage independently in international interactions.
