Gulf States Mull Diplomatic Break With Israel

DID Press: While a CNN report highlights limited military capacity of Qatar and other Gulf Arab states to respond directly to Israeli attacks, Qatar’s Al-Araby Al-Jadeed has reported that an emergency summit in Doha can lead to major decisions — including suspending economic and political ties with Israel.

CNN noted that Gulf states remain heavily reliant on U.S. security guarantees and lack effective regional military coordination, leaving them constrained to diplomatic and economic responses.

Meanwhile, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed described the Israeli strike on Qatar as a “dangerous shift in the nature of regional conflicts,” reporting that cutting ties with Israel remains a possible option until hostilities in Gaza cease.

According to Egyptian sources, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is expected to attend the summit, underscoring Cairo’s effort to align Arab and Islamic positions. Analysts believe the dual narrative — military weakness alongside potential diplomatic and economic measures — suggests regional responses will focus more on coordinated political actions than direct confrontation.
